Terry has produced or directed the telecast of some of the world's greatest events; he is also a screenwriter, playwright, novelist, and author as listed below.
Television: Terry served as a producer and director for ABC Sports for 24 years during which he produced or directed six Olympic Games: three Summer Olympics; Munich 1972, Montreal 1976 and Los Angeles 1984, and three Winter Olympics: Lake Placid 1980, Sarajevo 1984 and Calgary 1988, Super Bowl XIX, golf's major championships including 20 U.S. Opens, 22 British Open Championships and 22 PGA Championships, 4 Indianapolis 500 motor races, and dozens of ABC's Wide World of Sports episodes.
Of note, Terry directed the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, and Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. For his work in television, he received 7 Emmy Awards having been nominated 17 times.
In 1992, after twenty years with ABC Sports, Terry was asked by Jack Nicklaus to be his partner and president in a new company, Jack Nicklaus Productions. After a quick “yes” they were partners for twelve years during which they re-launchedShell's Wonderful World of Golf, created four new golf events: Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge, The Diners Club Matches, Michael Douglas & Friends, and The Tommy Bahama Challenge, and produced a line of video games for Accolade. Along the way, Terry produced and directed the golf instructional videos for Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman, Curtis Strange, Tom Kite, Phil Mickelson, Tom Watson, and Butch Harmon.
Outside of sports, Terry produced the famed Haute Couture Paris Fashion Collections for ABC TV prime time, and the first English speaking prime time specials of the great Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for The Travel Channel. During his career, Terry developed, produced, and starred-in the feature film Waltz Across Texas with Anne Archer, wrote Good Luck, Mr. Anthony, a feature film script in development at Beacon Pictures and was nominated for the Directors Guild of America Lifetime Achievement Award.
Theater: Terry studied acting with Lee Strasberg at the Strasberg Theater Institute and The Actor's Studio for seven years, as well as studying acting with Milton Katselas at the Beverly Hills Playhouse for fifteen years where he also taught an acting class for six years. He has acted in numerous feature films and television series episodes, as well as plays in both New York City and Los Angeles. Terry directed the Los Angeles stage premiere of A Couple of White Chicks Sitting Around Talking, starring Anne Archer and Elizabeth Ashley, directed the stage premiere of As If It Matters at the Beverly Hills Playhouse, wrote and directed The Vaginal Lock, produced by Camelot Productions at the Skylight Theater in Los Angeles, and wrote and directed Jane Fonda in the Court of Public Opinion, which premiered at the Edgemar Theater in Los Angeles in October 2012, played at The Park Theater in London, and was invited to the Edenborough Fringe Festival where his play won Best New Play.
